Easy Crocheted Slippers( about 4 hours per pair, fits teen -adult ) H Hook Yarn Needle Worsted Weight Yarn, ( 4 ounces of 2 colors will make 3 pairs, see note * ) Note: Leave a 24 inch tail before starting on first row; this will gather the toe and sew slipper top. *************************************************** Foundation chain: Chain 35, turn Row 1: Make single crochets for the whole row. ( 34 sc ) Chain 1 & turn. Row 2: sc in back loop only, for the first 14 stitches, work thru both loops for the remaining 20 stitches. ( 34 sc ) Chain 1 & turn. Row 3: sc thru BOTH LOOPS for the first 20 stitches; then thru BACK LOOP ONLY for 14. Chain 1 & turn. Repeat rows 2 & 3 for a total of 28 rows. Cut yarn, leaving about an 8 inch tail,...this will sew up the heel. SEWING UP SLIPPER: Using yarn needle, fold piece long-ways and sew up the heel. This is the end without the "back loop" ridges. Lay slipper FLAT, with the heel to your RIGHT... so we're on the same page ;-) Toe end is at your LEFT hand. Using the long tail you left at the start, Take ONE stitch at the UPPER LEFT CORNER of slipper, thru BOTH layers. TIE a knot so this stitch will NOT slip..... sewing ONE layer, gather the toe into a circle. You will come back around to that first tied stitch. Gather toe together, and tie tight, ( GENTLY if using wool...) Holding both layers together, sew the slipper up the top, stopping TWO STITCHES PAST the toe ridges. Tie off, weave ends in. Cuff: Attaching yarn at the heel, sc around top of slipper, for 3 rows. Cut off, weave in. Rosette: Leave a 5 inch tail on starting, for finishing. Chain 13, turn and starting in 3rd chain from hook, work 4 dc's ( double crochets ) in EACH chain. It will curl up. End off. LEAVE about an 8 inch tail. Thread this tail on needle, uncurl rosette until it looks right to you, ( like a rose ;-) and using this tail, tack it to itself so it doesn't curl back up completely. Attach at cuff front, ON foot area. Use both ends to tie rosette to slipper. Notes: I started with 1 pink skein, and 1 blue skein...and ended up with 3 prs. 1 pair pink, with blue cuffs & blue rosettes, 1 pair blue, with pink cuffs & pink rosettes, and 1 pair that is 1 pink slipper, 1 blue slipper, with each one having OPPOSITE color cuff & rosette.
